The Rotary Organisation throughout the world has dedicated itself for many years to the elimination of polio worldwide. That target is very nearly achieved, and to celebrate The Rotary Club of Taunton last week planted 1000 purple crocus bulbs alongside the War Memorial in Vivary Park, Taunton. Purple is the colour used at immunisation sessions to indicate that children and others have been immunised against the disease and it is hoped that in the Spring of next year Park visitors may enjoy a colourful display of crocuses which have been planted in the pattern of Rotary's logo.
